Gang Gateb Connecting Channel Dredging will Be Finished Next Week

The Central Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency is targeting to complete the dredging work on the Gang Gateb Connecting (Phb) Channel in RT 08/RW 06, Mangga Dua Selatan Urban Village, Sawah Besar next week.

Central Jakarta SDA Sub-agency's Maintenance Section Head, Achmad Daeroby conveyed, since March 7, as many as 14 personnel have been dredging the channel with a width of 1.4 meters, length of 126 meters, and depth of 1.2 meters.

"Mud is dredged manually to a depth of 60 centimeters using simple tools, such as a hoe, bucket, crowbar, and sack," he conveyed, Friday (3/11).

So far, the channel has been dredged up to 54 meters in height, or more than 42 percent of the target. In total, the personnel had transported around three cubic meters of mud.

"It aims to accommodate rainwater more optimally to minimize inundation during heavy rains," he said.

Yosep, a resident of RT 08/06 Mangga Dua Selatan appreciated the sub-agency for responding quickly to the resident's request for channel dredging through Musrenbang 2021.

"Mud is quite thick. Hopefully, our area will be free from inundation," he hoped.
